Some random facts about the skit:
- It was the first skit of the first taped episode of The Muppet Show in 1976. It also appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and Sesame Street (where we all probably saw it).
- The song was originally released in 1968 by Perio Umiliani and debuted on the soundtrack of a Swedish porn movie.
- "Mahna Mahna" was voiced and performed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz
- On “Muppets Tonight” the Snowths appeared with Sandra Bullock and uttered their famous retort after she said the word “phenomenon”

This spelling would have never occurred to me. I always heard it as "manamana" or "menomena" kind of like phenomenon or Menominee. But I commend you for posting it.
Angie, I love you for finding out that this song was originally in a porn - that is fabulous and makes me like it even more! Now I have to watch the muppets to see what other dirty factoids we can dig up.
I would just like to brag about the fact that Nathan can now sing this song!
